Trial setting continued for firefighter Quinata

Guam - A trial date hasn't been set for firefighter Dean Ray Quinata. Quinata pleaded not guilty to charges of sexually assaulting a female minor and appeared in court today to find out when he would go to trial.

The matter was continued until September to give the parties time to work out issues regarding exculpatory evidence. The prosecution was considering presenting its case to the grand jury again along with evidence that the defense argues would show that Quinata was nowhere near where the alleged rape took place.

A female minor told police that Quinata took her to an area where he fondled and raped her.

The firefighter has been on annual leave from the fire department. He is assigned to the Umatac Fire Station.
