Guam - It doesn't appear likely that the government will get back tens of thousands of dollars from former Guam Baseball Federation president and former senator Mark Charfauros. A 2006 audit of the Paseo lease agreement between the GBF and the Department of Parks & Recreation revealed selective procurement, unpaid utility bills, and a $45,000 a year salary Charfauros paid himself to be the diamond keeper.
Charfauros, who is now a police captain, filed for bankruptcy. His potential debt to the government is listed in his debts. Should the judge grant a discharge in his bankruptcy proceeding, Charfauros would not be obligated to pay it.
Another status hearing will be held on August 27.
