PUC plans public hearing on solid waste fees
The Public Utilities Commission this evening will be holding a public hearing relative to the Host Community Premium Benefit and Solid Waste Fees.
Guam - The Public Utilities Commission this evening will be holding a public hearing relative to the Host Community Premium Benefit and Solid Waste Fees. According to PUC legal counsel Fred Horecky, the PUC will take testimony and attempt to determine what is a fair and equitable apportionment of the cost of the Host Community Premium Benefit on residential and commercial customers.
"And I felt that it was necessary to have in the record an indication of what are the amounts, how are they determined and are they fair to both classes of ratepayers," said Horecky.
Guam public law mandates that the villages of Inarajan and Ordot be compensated with $150,000 a year for having solid waste facilities, namely the Layon Landfill and the Ordot Dump in their villages through solid waste fees. He adds a recommendation suggested that residential rate payers see an increase of $0.38 per month to their bill, while commercial rates would increase by $3.57 per ton.
