Guam - The clock is ticking for the Department of Education to obligate $60 million in American Reinvestment and Recovery Act funding. The Legislature's Committee on Education is slated to hold a roundtable hearing on Wednesday night to discuss the matter.

If not obligated by the September 30 deadline, the stimulus funding will expire. Over the weekend, Governor Eddie Calvo sent a request to the U.S. Department of Education for a deadline extension. This marks the second request Guam has made to obligate DOE stimulus money.

The roundtable is scheduled for 6:30pm in the Legislature's Public Hearing Room.
