Babauta meets with DOE
Guam - Last March the Department of the Interior launched an assessment of buildings and classrooms initiative. And although he's only been on the job for less than a month, Assistant Secretary for Insular Affairs Tony Babauta met with new Department of Education superintendent Jon Fernandez efforts to move the initiative forward.
"In the end what we intend is to be able arm leadership, local government leaders, superintendent, the Guam legislature, governors from the different areas so they can prioritize their scarce resources in being able to fix schools or know the information if whether a school is unusable," he explained.
The insular ABC's has the Army Corps of Engineers contracted to generate a report of assessments of public schools throughout the territories. Babauta adds an interactive website will be launched to offer updates on projects and data that currently exists.
