Guam - Umatac resident Debbie Quinata took the stand today in an ongoing land dispute case that is being tried in the Superior Court. Prominent attorney David Lujan is seeking monetary damages from Quinata for alleged encroachment on his property without compensation. Quinata in turn filed her own lawsuit, seeking damages for alleged physical and emotional stressed caused by Lujan.

Today Quinata testified that the two started out having a cordial and friendly relationship but that quickly turned sour when Lujan allegedly blamed her for calling historic preservation officials.  They went to the Toguan property to investigate whether ancient artifacts were being disturbed from clearing that Lujan had ordered for the area.

Quinata testified that Lujan began calling her names and cursing at her and telling her she had no right to the land "because it belonged to the Chamorros".  Quinata will continue to take the stand when the trial resumes next Wednesday.
