Guam - Governor Eddie Calvo has signed-off on another ARRA project for school renovations more than $2 million in stimulus funding is now obligated to renovate 17 classrooms at George Washington High School for science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) education.

The Mangilao school is looking into options including double session, in order for the work to begin.

DOE superintendent Jon Fernandez said, "We have a couple of options: we have reached out to the University of Guam and to GCC to determine whether there are available classrooms we may be able to take advantage of. I don't know exactly what our solution will be, but we want to look at every option.

"And the other option, of course, is double-session, which would involve addressing the bussing situation; so I've had my staff looking internally that we might identify funding that we could offer to assist DPW in whatever needs they have or as the governor said maybe even looking into other creative options in leasing busses as needed. We're just trying to find the right solution."

Fernandez hopes to have a final decision out by this week.
