Guam - The Department of Corrections is investigating how a 43-year-old man who was arrested for violating his probation died while in their custody. DepCor acting spokesperson Jeff Limo says the man was brought in on July 9 after testing positive for using methamphetamine. He is on probation for a burglary case, and was scheduled to be released on August 19.

But following the morning of his arrest, the man complained of difficulty breathing and was wheeled down from Post 25 to the infirmary. Limo says the man passed out, and the department nurse conducted CPR until medics arrived to take him to Naval Hospital in Agana Heights. The man died two days later.

DOC is not releasing his identity at this time, but launched an internal affairs investigation to determine if proper medical policies and procedures were followed.
