Benavidez signs plea deal in drug case

Guam - Benny Benavidez has agreed to cooperate with federal authorities after signing a plea agreement, admitting to conspiracy to distribute methamphetamine. Benavidez faces a minimum of ten years behind bars because he has a prior drug conviction but could be sentenced to life in prison. In March and August of 2011, he picked up express mail packages that he knew contained the drug Ice.
He is scheduled to change his plea on July 17.
