Guam - Vice Speaker B.J. Cruz has called for an oversight hearing next week to discuss public law relative to removing the continuing clause provisions to health insurance companies on Guam who contract with the Government of Guam. The committee chair on procurement and government operations has namely called on Department of Administration to answer questions of its enforcement or lack thereof to the public law.

Governor Eddie Calvo meanwhile says he whole-heartedly welcomes the hearing and hopes lawmakers will tone down their rhetoric. "But I'm hopeful the vice speaker will be more patient and respectful of our directors because the way they were treated last year even though my administration and my fiscal people have really dug this government out of a deep hole that was dug by the vice speaker and other members of the democratic leadership," he said.

The hearing is set for July 18 at 10am at the Guam Legislature.
