Senators want DOD to provide buildup master plan

Guam - Resolution 458 was heard this morning relative to respectfully urging Secretary of Defense Leon Panetta to respond promptly to requests to provide a master plan for the military buildup in Guam. Buildup chair Senator Judi Guthertz discussed how the master plan was critical before any action of the buildup could move forward and would determine where additional military facilities on Guam would be placed along with its costs and required personnel.
"The big missing link has always been the Guam master plan and it has been laid down in a number of official laws that unless that master plan is completed, the buildup can not go forward," the senator said.
Another requirement of the NDAA is an independent assessment on the Pacific Asian security needs, which according to Congresswoman Madeleine Bordallo's office has since been submitted to DOD and awaits review by Panetta before being transmitted to Congress and made public.
