GIAA secures loan to ensure energy efficiency
by Jason Salas
Guam - Major funding is heading the way of the Guam International Airport with which to finance upgrades ensuring the Tamuning facility is energy efficient, as recommended in a recent energy audit. Uncle Sam has approved a Community Facility Loan worth $11.9 million primarily from First Hawaiian Bank to support the project, saving the airport nearly $2 million in energy costs each year.
The airport has seen better days, as recent chronic issues with air conditioning have caused both employees and travelers some discomfort.
