Senator Dennis Rodriguez, Jr. is holding a public hearing tonight on how the Patient Protection Affordable Care Act will impact Guam.
Guam - Following the U.S. Supreme Court's ruling that upheld President Barack Obama's controversial health care reform law, the Committee on Health chair Senator Dennis Rodriguez, Jr. is holding a public hearing tonight on how the Patient Protection Affordable Care Act will impact Guam.
Senator Rodriguez says Obamacare is rather complex for many to understand, noting, "I think it's good to be able to listen to the professionals - the insurance companies, the insurance commissioner and the AG's Office and other healthcare individuals to see how now this law is going to help them and how it's going to help our community."
He adds there are certain provisions in the law that Guam must implement including the establishment of a health insurance exchange along with increases to Medicaid that Guam will receive. The hearing starts at 5:30 and continues tonight at the Guam Legislature Public Hearing Room.
