Democrat candidate for senator

Contact information:

Leah Beth holds a BA degree in Communication and MA degree in Public Administration, both from the University of Guam. She is also currently a Doctoral Candidate in Educational Leadership with Argosy University.
Leah Beth began her career in public service in the summer of 2000 as the University of Guam's Career Development Officer, where she spent 11 years administering the Career Development Office and its programs. She worked tirelessly with students, graduates, and just about anyone willing to work to plan for and avail themselves of career and employment opportunities. She is particularly known for her energy, drive, and ability to convince private sector employers to recognize and employ local talent.
In January 2011, Gov. Eddie Baza Calvo appointed Leah Beth as the Director of the Guam Department of Labor. At the department, Leah Beth not only brought years of success in helping to link job seekers with employer needs, she became a staunch advocate of the local worker. Before leaving the Department in March 2012, she worked to ensure that the government exhausted all efforts to ensure local employment opportunities went to local workers before alien laborers under H-2B alien labor program. This sometimes brought her at odds with a small number of employers seeking H-2B alien laborers.
If given an opportunity to serve in the Legislature, she would like to work with her colleagues to support programs and develop policies aimed at promoting local entrepreneurship, workforce development, and the overall improvement of the quality of life in our island.
