Bio:
Mayor Paul M. McDonald is serving his fifth term as Mayor of Agana Heights, the village where he was born and reared. Mayor McDonald is the fifth child of twelve children of Charles H. (deceased) and Lucia Garcia McDonald; and is married to the former Elaine M. Zanoni, the daughter of Leo P. and Lourdes Gogue Ceraos (both deceased). Paul & Elaine are proud parents of a son, Eugene (fiancée' Nikole Benavente); two daughters, Yvette (married to Stanley Walton) and Stacy (married to Christopher Flores); three granddaughters, Keandra, Teah and Gabriela; and two grandsons, Aidan and Kole.
He is no stranger to public service having served as President and Vice President of the Agana Heights Elementary School PTO, the Agana Heights Blues Association President, was the first Guam Youth Congress Representative for Agana Heights, and was Manager and Coach for various Baseball Teams for over 20 years. Paul also served on the Board for the Guam Visitors Bureau for 6 years; President for the Association of Pacific Island Local Governments/Mayors' League of Asia for 7 years; President of the Mayors' Council of Guam for 7 terms; and Committee Chair for Concessions for the Guam Island Fair/Liberation Executive Committee for 3 years.
A graduate of the U.S. Navy Apprenticeship School, Paul raised to the position of Planner and Estimator for SRF as well as President of the American Federation of Government Employees (Local 1689). He was the youngest union president nation wide. As union president, he was instrumental in seeking retribution for asbestos related incidents.
As the five term Mayor of Agana Heights, Paul McDonald takes his job at heart providing the residents with myriad of service and activities for all ages. He was able to organize sports leagues with both softball and basketball; jump start the Boys and Girls Scouts of America in Agana Heights, established the "Fun In The Sun" Summer Program (18 years), the Agana Heights Afterschool Hours Program (10 years) ; Summer Youth Employment (18 years) and the Youths for Hire Program (14 years); Annual Easter Egg Hunt; the Agana Heights Graffiti Adoption Program, the Neighborhood Crime Watch Program; and assist the Senior Citizens in many of the programs for elderly.
Mayor Paul M. McDonald credits his success to his late father Charles H. McDonald who gave him the formula that only hard work and caring for people brings about great leadership.
