Report: Guam 3rd in regional drug use by youth

The United Nations has released its&nbsp;<a href="http://www.unodc.org/unodc/en/data-and-analysis/WDR-2012.html">2012 World Drug Report</a>. The document aims to improve understanding of the illicit drug problem and contribute to more international cooperation for countering it.

Guam - The United Nations has released its 2012 World Drug Report. The document aims to improve understanding of the illicit drug problem and contribute to more international cooperation for countering it.

Although specifics were not provided for Guam in terms of the prevalence of drug use among the general population, stats were provided for drug use among youth. For example, Guam youth ranked 3rd for the use of cannabis for students between 9th and 12th grade in Oceania. The territory was behind Palau, which was ranked first and second to the CNMI. Meanwhile, Guam youth ranked 4th in Oceania for the use of amphetamines following the Marshall Islands, Palau, and American Samoa.

And finally as for Guam's youth using and abusing ecstasy, the United Nations World Drug Report ranked Guam 3rd in Oceania, falling behind the Marshall Islands, which ranked 1st and Palau 2nd.   The stats reflect drug use for students between the 9th grade and 12.
