Guam - The Guam Environmental Protection Agency continues its investigation into the site of a deep seated fire that ignited last week in Yigo at an illegal dump. Guam EPA spokesperson Tammy Jo Anderson Taft said, "It takes a lot of solid waste to create a pile big enough that a deep seated fire can start - this is the type of situation where it just didn't happen over one day."

Residents are asked to be vigilant and report illegal dumps immediately so that problems like this do not occur. This illegal dump fire is similar to the illegal dump fire that occurred two years ago on Joseph Taitano's property. This particular fire is located near Taitano's property.

Yigo mayor Bob Lizama told KUAM News, "This is right behind the home of Tom Taitano...with that we noticed that it was a smaller fire that was contained in this particular cliffside behind the home."

As of yet, Guam EPA has not issued a notice of violation to the owner of this property.
