Legal community mourns CNMI chief justice passing

The Judiciary and attorneys on Guam and the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands are mourning the passing of CNMI chief justice miguel demapan.

Guam - The Judiciary and attorneys on Guam and the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands are mourning the passing of CNMI chief justice Miguel Demapan. Demapan passed away on Saturday in Saipan. 

Over the last two decades, he served as a judge and justice pro-tem for the Superior and Supreme Courts of Guam.  Chief Justice F. Philip Carbullido will lead members of the Guam Judiciary to attend the funeral next Monday. Today Carbullido offered his condolences, saying, "He served the judiciaries of the CNMI, Guam, and Micronesia with integrity and fairness. His colleagues throughout the Marianas and Micronesia had the deepest respect and admiration for his untiring commitment to the rule of law."

Demapan will be laid to rest next Monday, July 9.
