Guam - After a week since the Committee on Utilities discussed concerns with the Guam Power Authority over how 1,400 customers received drastic increases in their power bill, GPA has now taken steps to correct the problem.

According to GPA general manager Joaquin Flores, GPA has been able to reclassify over 840 accounts to the proper rate class after qualifying due to their low consumption history along with an additional 208 accounts to a lower rate class because of their trend toward lower consumption during the past six months. As a result, the 1,000+ customers should receive a credit on either their June or July bills.

GPA will now work on the remaining 350 customers to determine the appropriate rate solution for these accounts which it hopes to have some resolution by the end of next week.
