Guam - The Coast Guard wrapped-up its first-ever mission day this week, highlighting the tools and resources needed for the Coast Guard in executing missions and providing the overall security for Guam and the region's waters. As one of the major partners in making Mission Day possible, Acting Governor Ray Tenorio boarded the Coast Guard Cutter Sequoia to witness these exercises along with several senators and mayors and various officials and members of Guam's Fire and Police Departments.

Lt. Jg. Richard Russell told KUAM News, "So basically today what we did is a showcase of our ports water-ways and coastal security ways mission we did small water boat tactics for everyone on board. We also brought out HSC-25 to demonstrate how they conduct those daring rescues off of Saipan and around the islands. So overall, it was an excellent day."

The Coast Guard hopes to start having mission days on an annual basis and will continue to invite out the community to show what it is all about.
