Guam - Captain Mark Charfauros is on the move again. That's right he's heading to another law enforcement agency.

He started as the Airport Police chief but got fired there, won his case on appeal at the Civil Service Commission, got back pay and through a unique arrangement approved during the reign of then chief of police Paul Suba, Mark Charfauros landed a job at the Guam Police Department as a captain where he's been since 2009. Well, come Monday he'll set aside his GPD uniform.

DOC director Jose San Agustin said, "I probably ask that he be in civilian attire."

KUAM News has confirmed Captain Charfauros is heading to the Department of Corrections where evidently his expertise is needed temporarily. "I can use Captain Charfauros to my advantage in helping us search for grant help us design a prison proposal of a new prison and other stuff that can help the department of corrections with administrative stuff," said San Agustin.

Captain Charfauros time at GPD hasn't exactly been smooth sailing, you may remember he was charged in a case where he was accused of telling another cop to go deck a guy in relation to a trespassing complaint, that case was recently dropped. And then there's a couple of IA investigations.

Could it be tied to his detail? Chief of police Fred Bordallo said, "It has nothing to do with any internal affairs investigation at Windward Hills. It has nothing to do with any investigations on gun targets with Palau."

Nope according to Bordallo it has all the more to do with a request from DepCor director San Agustin. "I had met Captain Charfauros a couple months ago I kind of asked Captain Charfauros about his abilities and capabilities of things that he could do to help the Department of Corrections. Simply put we have several folks that are retiring that have retired and we are also kind of short personnel so I had asked the captain if he was interested to come and be detailed to DOC to just help us out with some of the grants some of there policies and some of the administrative help that he can assist me of and he expressed interest in doing that."

Bordallo said, "I told him I could go a head and spare Captain Mark Charfauros to help out over at the Department of Corrections."

Charfauros will be detailed to DOC for four months.
