Guam - Long before Governor Eddie Calvo pitched education reform, the Department of Education was hosting annual professional development summits. According to DOE deputy superintendent Rob Malay, all 40 of the island's public school administrative teams will participate in a three-day leadership conference that kicks off Wednesday at the Holiday Inn.

"It is very important we stay on top of the latest trends and what's happening and what the best practices are that are going to affect student achievement," he said. "So this leadership conference is focusing on two things: visionary leadership and instructional leadership."

Malay says Vicente Benavente Middle School principal Dexter Fullo will be one of the facilitators. Fullo is recognized by the learning forward organization for his success with learning communities at his Dededo school.
