Ada to hold briefing with GPA
Guam - Several Guam Power Authority customers have raised concern over their power bill increasing dramatically over the last month. According to Consolidated Utility Services General Manager John Benavente, this is a result of a recent base rate adjustment that caused substantially higher demand rates for some of its customers mostly commercial or large customer classes including government accounts.
While GPA is reviewing the impact and determining what appropriate alternatives are available to mitigate the matter, Acting Governor Ray Tenorio has instructed the chief of staff to meet with the CCU this week about the increase. Committee on Utilities chair Senator Tom Ada meanwhile has called for an information briefing with GPA this Thursday at 6:30pm to clarify these concerns.
For those concerned about the increase, call GPA's customer service department at 647-5787.
