Insufficient evidence dismisses drug charges

Guam - Drug possession charges that were filed against a former Port Authority of Guam worker have been dismissed. The Attorney General's Office felt there was insufficient evidence to prosecute Eddie Cruz Taitano.
Last month Taitano was found in an unauthorized area of the port forcing a lockdown of the facility. A straw containing crystal meth was found in the bed of the truck Taitano was driving. As a result of further investigation, the charge was dismissed.
AG's Office spokesperson Carlina Charfauros says they will pursue the misdemeanor charge of criminal trespass against Taitano, who resigned following the arrest. Port general manager Mary Torres was not aware of the dismissal, but says she is still researching the status of the internal investigation.
