Guam - Agana Springs and the Minondo River area will be up for discussion tomorrow. Bill 440, authored by Senator Frank Blas Jr., looks to work with GEDA to develop a master plan for the wetland area.

According to Sinajana Vice Mayor Robert Hoffman, there may be roadblocks ahead because a portion of the land is privately owned and the springs supply freshwater for central villages. "If the concern of the Legislature is that the natural flow of water is not occurring, it's not going to occur the way nature intended it to because we're already re-diverting the water there into our water wells and we're taking a lot of those things that would normally seep to the ground and actually spring and percolate," he said.

"So I think we're the cause of it, so the best way is to try to mitigate it or help move it along. Sdoo we're anxious to see what happens with Bill 440."

It was earlier this year we reported the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency did a cleanup of PCBs in the Agana Spring area. According to GEPA spokesperson Tammy Jo Anderson Taft, the cleanup was strictly on GovGuam-owned land. The public hearing is set for Tuesday at 10am.
