Guam - The 52nd meeting of the Pacific Island Health Officers Association is being held on Guam this week. The mission of the organization is to provide a unifying voice and credible authority on health issues of regional significance.

The Association works to strengthen cross-cutting public health infrastructure in the Pacific Region with priority initiatives that address health workforce development, quality assurance, health data systems, public health planning, and public health laboratories. Discussions are also focused on how intervention can and does affect the impact of non-communicable diseases and neglected tropical diseases affecting the Pacific islands.
