Trial begins for Alex Castro

Guam - The jury trial began today for Alex Castro, who is accused of beating a sailor at a local nightclub in February 2010. The victim, Jared Dunham, took the stand describing what happened at Club Hanna. Dunham told the jury Castro had approached him for a lighter, but he and his friend didn't have one. 

He said Castro punched him in the eye, describing it as the hardest he had ever been hit. He added that as he tried to leave other individuals started to beat him. Dunham was sent to Hawaii for medical treatment.

Defense attorney Tom Fisher will continue cross-examination of the witness tomorrow morning.
