Guam - A 31-year-old man is behind bars, accused of extorting money from a family member. Justin Roy Santos allegedly came up with an elaborate story, telling his relative that he had been involved in a shooting and his partner had kidnapped him and was holding him hostage.
On at least four occasions, Santos called the relative claiming he was being held at gunpoint and his kidnapper was demanding that cash be deposited into his bank account. After depositing more than 16 hundred dollars, the family member was admitted to the hospital due to stress. But that apparently didn't stop Santos, who then tried to get another $800, this time from a sibling. When she refused, police were able to locate Santos on Friday.
He confessed that he made up the whole story so that he could use the money to gamble. He was arrested for terrorizing and theft by deception.
