Guam - Police Officer Daniel "Troy" Anciano returned back to work today after the police chief agreed to reinstate him. Anciano was fired two months ago for arresting Police Captain Mark Charfauros. Instead of the termination, the Guam Police Department and Anciano agreed to a different adverse action, a five-day suspension in lieu of being fired.

A settlement agreement was reached by the parties that would give Anciano backpay for the time he was terminated.

While the settlement has yet to be signed by the Civil Service Commission's board of directors, executive director Tony Lamorena says the agreement states that the agreement is not an admission that anciano did anything wrong.

KUAM News sought comment from Police Chief Fred Bordallo, who referred us to spokesperson Sergeant Mike Aguon. He said, "The only comment that he has to make is that the agreement was made and they both agreed to it and he's willing to take him back.  He has faith in him coming back based on the AG's approval so he's taking him back."

Sergeant Aguon could not comment on the chief's decision to go back on the termination, only saying the agreement is a personnel matter and that Anciano is back to work assigned to the same place he was before he was fired.
