Guam - Classes may be out but the island success through learning association incorporated is already prepping for the upcoming school year. According to Isla Inc. co-founder Len Stohr, the non-profit is looking to raise $60,000 to purchase 3,000 backpacks full of school supplies for free or reduced lunch elementary students in the village of Dededo.
He told KUAM News, "One thing about us, compared to other non-profits we have zero overhead. Nothing that comes to us stays with us. Everything goes to the children. The pencils that are donated. The bags that are donated. 0859 everything goes directly back to the children."
Eligible students will be notified the first day of school where to pick up their free backpack. To donate to the backpack project, call Stohr at 929-0768 or visit islandsuccess.org.
