Guam - In celebration of the 114th Philippine Independence Day celebration, the Guam Reef Hotel and Alize have pulled out all the stops to host a Filipino Food Festival. For the next two weeks, residents and tourists can treat their palettes to the likes of roasted pok from Cebu, kare kare, and specialty native desserts.
Plantation resorts and spa executive sous chef Henry Abellana said, "It's very close to the food here in Guam and in Asia in general. It's very close. You can relate with the taste. It's not hard. A lot of Guamanians they love the food."
The Filipino Food Festival is made possible with the assistance of United Airlines and the Filipino Consulate. Guam Reef promotions manager Chito De Guzman told KUAM News, "Please come over and join us because it's all Filipino food. These are the regional dishes from all over the Philippines."
Fiesta Sa Nayon Ng Guam will run through June 18. The Guam Reef Hotel will also feature a flag raising ceremony on June 12 followed by a Pinoy almusal (breakfast).
