DOE preps for grant application

Guam - The Department of Education is already preparing for the upcoming fiscal year. DOE interim superintendent Taling Taitano recently met with USDOE officials as well as doe reps from the CNMI, the U.S. Virgin Islands, and American Samoa, to walk through the consolidated grant application process.
"The reason why they do this is to ensure that when we submit the grant application that it's as clean as possible and they can quickly approve it so we can get it as soon as possible. The hope is to get the funds before the beginning of the next fiscal year," said Taitano.
Guam received $20 million in grant money for this fiscal year, which helped fund after school programs, Direct Instruction, Success for All, the Anti-Bullying Program, and career and technical education at Guam Community College.
