Guam - The Guam Fire Department and the Department of Public Works spent the afternoon making the final inspections of the Liberation Carnival grounds in Tiyan. More than 70 booths, including the casino, were checked to ensure structures meet minimum safety requirements.

Mayor's Council of Guam executive director Angel Sablan says Public Health inspected and approved the permits for the vendors selling food and drinks earlier this week. The carnival's soft opening started at 6pm in Tiyan, and the casino will begin 24/7 operations tonight.

The official carnival opening is this Friday.
