Election reform not likely in Decision 2012
Guam - It appears there won't be any changes to the election code for the 2012 election cycle. That's according to election reform chair Senator Dennis Rodriguez Jr., who says the Guam Election Commission had indicated that an election reform bill at the latest needed to be passed by the end of this month in order to implement it in time for the September primary, which is a little over three months away.
"That's a smart move to address it now however, this is something that needs consensus by the entire body which is why we're in this situation," he said.
Lawmakers have not pushed for the override of the governor's veto of Bill 413 because not all members of the legislature are present. The governor's revised election reform Bill 449 meanwhile was not placed on this session agenda.
