UOG hosting Founder's Day
by Krystal Paco
Guam - In honor of 60 years on the island, the University of Guam will host a Founder's Day on June 29. The day will be set aside to recognize the first board of regents, first endowment board, the Guam Legislature and others who were instrumental in the founding of the institution.
The honorary co-chairs of the event are Flo Sanchez and Dr. Lorraine Yamashita, the spouses of the university's first two presidents. Current president Dr. Robert Underwood said, "Surrounding the founders will be a series of displays and kind of a trip down Memory Lane for each of the units. How did these units first begin, what are their plans for the future and in celebration of that? So this is the opportunity for the whole community to come by during the course of the whole day to see what the university has gone through ad the contributions that have been made."
The following day, the university will have its signature 60th Anniversary Gala at the Hyatt Hotel. Underwood says entertainment will consist of various university talent singing songs from different eras.
