Guam - Our Men's National Rugby Team is heading to Malaysia to compete in the HSBC 5 Nations Division 3 Semi Finals. The team has been training hard for the competition in hopes of moving up to the Division 2. Team Guam will have the help of some of our players that have returned home from competing in New Zealand.
Willie Heteraka, Team Guam coach, told KUAM Sports, "We are taking on some of the biggest nations in the world and India is in the tournament and they are in the couple of billion and then we have Indonesia the 4th biggest nation and then Pakistan. Guam will play Indonesia and the winner will go on to play the winner between Pakistan and India. So that's going to be a huge week in the next 7 days. We have an MPC Coach in Dean Kire and he assisted us last year and runs the strategy and we also have a front row coach Tony Pin. He is a former Hurricane and played 13 years professional rugby and played with the best in the world and he is here working with our forwards up front."
Assistant coach Tony Penn added, "IUt's going to be a real big week for us in Malaysia we have 2 games in 3 days so I think it is really important that our recovery is bang on the money. That involves getting rid of any sore bodies and a lot of eating right and working with our medical team. We have a really exciting team like I mentioned before and I think it is important that we have the whole squad from 1 to 24 available and fit ready to go."
