Guam - Over 400 8th grade students at Vicente Benavente Middle School are getting an alternative promotional ceremony this school year. According to BMS principal Dexter Fullo, 8th grade teachers were surveyed earlier this year and expressed a preference for team promotional ceremonies to round out the year. "They're not losing out on a milestone, one of the reasons teachers prefer to have team assemblies is because those are the kids they've been with for the entire year. The teachers know them a lot better and the kids know one another a lot more," he explained.

There are roughly 140 students per team. Fullo says the school's three teams will hold promotional ceremonies next week at various hotels.
