Guam - The USNS Mercy naval hospital ship docked at Naval Base Guam before heading out on a four-month deployment beginning in Indonesia. The ship is based out of San Diego and has a 1,000-member crew.

Lieutenant Commander Maria Lohmeyer provided a tour showing how the ship is fully equipped with medical supplies and machines like many community hospitals. The crew will depart Guam Friday to conduct the medical mission and they're taking 300 medical practitioners and other personnel from Guam with them. "It's its not just US Navy, we are going to be complimented with 13 partner nations as well as 23 non-government organizations who will join us for this mission in the various countries," Lohmeyer said.

The USNS Mercy will also visit the Philippines, Vietnam and Cambodia.
