Guam - The Consolidated Commission on Utilities is scheduled to meet this evening and will be discussing several ongoing issues. According to CCU chairman Simon Sanchez, the Commission will be approving a number of contracts for Guam Power Authority to award service contracts to vendors that are going to be installing smart grid meters.

Additionally, with technology getting more demanding and advanced, the CCU will discuss creating a new information technology position that would service both GWA and GPA. He adds there are far more complex systems being installed at both utility groups and need to modernize and upgrade services.

GWA meanwhile will also create an operations and maintenance manager who will be tasked with reporting and assessing waste water operations on Guam.
