Guam - While there is still an effort to secure an override of the governor's veto of the first election reform bill, public comments provided on the governor's election reform bill are still being compiled for the committee report. Senator Dennis Rodriguez Junior says it is important that lawmakers push forward with election reform immediately as there is a short window for any changes to be made for the upcoming election.

"In talking with the Election Commission if we don't pass anything by this month, then I think election reform for this coming election is gone. We need to give time to the election commission to prepare," he said.

The Democrat lawmaker adding that it wouldn't be fair to impose new changes much later than early June and if an election reform bill isn't passed by then, Rodriguez says lawmakers will have to wait until the election is over before requiring changes.
