Guam - According to the latest update from the National Weather Service the center of Tropical Storm 03W is about 60 miles west-southwest of Guam and is still moving northwest at 9 miles per hour. It is expected to maintain this general course and speed during the next 12 hours. A Tropical Storm Warning remains in effect for Guam and Rota. Maximum sustained winds remain at 40mph. According to NWS damaging winds are possible in squalls through the evening hours on Guam and Rota. Peak winds of 35 to 40 miles per hour are possible, with gusts as high as 50mph could occur in heavy showers. The next scheduled advisory from the NWS will be issued at 2:00pm.


Meanwhile the Port Authority of Guam has ceased all cargo/vessel operations in anticipation of high winds that are expected to cross the island this afternoon.

As for the latest out of the Guam Power Authority, the following areas are still without power at this time:

1.       Parts of Agana Heights towards the elementary school;

2.       Anigua from Route 1 to Nimitz Hill, Asan and Piti

3.       Parts of Talofofo;

4.       Parts of Chalan Pago toward Dairy Road;

5.       Parts of Mangilao behind DYA and DOC (vegetation clearing)

6.       Parts of Barrigada behind Besta Market

GPA Customers experiencing power outages are asked to call GPA Trouble Dispatchers @ 475-1472/3/4 with location, contact number and power status. Those experiencing power fluctuations are asked to isolate their main breakers and report the problem to GPA Trouble Dispatchers.
