Guam - It's not a done deal just yet.  Superintendent-select Jon Fernandez is still reviewing the latest draft of his contract that was approved by the Guam Education Board last week. The board voted to increase his annual salary to $150,000 and delete other requests for monthly housing, transportation and technology expenses as well as sick leave and a termination clause that would have given him one year's salary.

Board chair Francis Santos says Fernandez was satisfied with the salary changes, but is still taking time to review the other provisions while getting estimates on the cost to ship his household goods to Guam.

Santos says he hopes to have the contract completed before the end of the month and have Fernandez on island sometime in June.
