Guam - The Joint Typhoon Warning Center has issued a Tropical Cyclone Formation Alert. This means in the next 12 to 24 hours there's a possibility a tropical cyclone could form. According to the National Weather Service currently a tropical disturbance is centered around 185 miles southeast of Guam. At this time winds are 15-25 miles per hour. From now and over the next couple days you can expect periods of scattered showers and thunderstorms as the disturbance moves slowly northwest through the Marianas region. According to the NWS while the future track and development of this disturbance is still uncertain, it appears likely it will pass near enough to the Marianas to bring locally heavy rain at times through Tuesday with wind gusts as high as 35 miles per hour. Faster than expected development could result in more wind and rain than currently expected or even develop into a tropical depression, according o the National Weather Service.
