Guam - Minority Leader Frank Blas, Jr. celebrated his 50th birthday with nearly two dozen family, friends and supporters on hand, as he became the first candidate to officially file his candidacy for Guam delegate to the U.S. Congress today at the Guam Election Commission. Blas says its evident that there are concerns with how the island is represented in our nation's capitol. He hopes to answer the call for change in bold leadership.

"So that's what I want to do, is bring to Washington Guam's voice, bring to Washington's Guam's concerns, talk about Guam's concerns, get some resolution to this fine innovative ways to be able resolve some of these issues, establish relationships, build upon relationships, take the lead in the discussion that are necessary, to advance to move us forward, that's what I want to do, that's why I'm running for Congress," he announced.

Blas is running under the Republican ticket. On Monday Democrat candidate Karlo Dizon announced his candidacy and intentions to run against incumbent Congresswoman Madeleine Bordallo.
