Guam - The Guam Power Authority is asking for the public's help to identify those responsible for stealing an estimated $90,000 worth of equipment. Connectors, cables, and other hardware were taken from the Hagatna Substation Upgrade Project in Mongmong while the area was also vandalized.

Agency spokesperson Art Perez says the $2.9 million project includes the upgrade of substation breakers and switches to improve service reliability to customers through Hagatna, Mongmong-Toto-Maite and portions of Barrigada and Tiyan. Perez says the theft has delayed the project by about four months, noting, "We were expecting to complete this by late-July. Now it looks like late October early November timeframe and that's given if the materials are readily available, the shipping costs, and all that that will have to be worked out with the contractor initially that's what our engineers are estimating at this point. It's a really big set back for us."
