Guam - A contract still hasn't been signed by Department of Education superintendent-select Jon Fernandez. The delay is concerning to Guam Education Board members like Joe San Agustin, who say the job announcement didn't leave room for negotiations - just a $125,000 a year salary.
Speaker Judi Won Pat had hoped a contract would have already been signed and regrets that relocation costs were not discussed earlier in the selection process. "Just like anything else when you're bringing somebody else in here usually you would provide some type of funding for that to be able to bring them out but there should be something stipulated in the contract that should it be broken that whatever the government provided, it has to be paid," she said.
The board is set to meet to discuss the matter during a special meeting on May 16 at 8:30am in the DOA Conference Room.
