Guam - A recent analysis may have shown that the Department of Education may be overstaffed with Chamorro language teachers, but Committee on Education chairperson Speaker Judi Won Pat doubts that's the case as she's been reviewing teacher schedules and sees that Chamorro language teachers are catering to a large number of students.

"I saw some discrepancies where some schools have equal number of students but one school would have more Chamorro language teachers and the other would have less. So there's nothing consistent throughout the different schools and the teachers and what they're being taught," she said.

Won Pat is also concerned that schedules show that Chamorro language teachers are also teaching core subjects and reform programs like Direct Instruction and Success for All and after school programs.  The speaker hopes to meet with doe to address the matter before the end of the month.
