Former UOG cadet honored by Afghan army

Guam - Retired U.S. Army Major Richard Nochefranca was made an honorary colonel of the Afghan National Army General Staff over the weekend. He is a 1987 University of Guam ROTC class alumni and former UOG assistant professor of military science.

He's worked the past 34 months sharing the Army values with the NATO training mission and demonstrated the importance of establishing systems that promote accountability, transparency and maintenance required to serve and protect the afghan people.  Nochefranca will return to Austin, Texas on May 15 when his contract ends.
