Guam - 20 shooters showed up at the Piti Gun Range for the 2012 Steel Challenge. KUAM Sports caught up with Jeff Nelson from the Firing Line to hear about what the shooters were taking part in. he said, "Everybody except one guy is using semi automatic pistols and we have a range officer here to make sure everything is safe and it is all on steel plates. Speed is of the essence and you have 5 runs and your slowest run is thrown out and your best 4 are added up. We have prizes for the top 3 in each division."

Nelson added, "The open guns that are space looking kind of guns and plain guns out of the box. Our first stage was smoking hope, which is very fast with some of the plates being as close at 7 yards now we are doing outer limits and 2 of the plates are at 35 yards and a couple are at 20 and the stop plate is at 18. After this we will do the falling plates, which is a lot of fun. 6 plates that are on a stand, you shoot them all down and pull a rope and they all reset. We have a real good turn out today and all these guys are real good shooters It's super safe, safety is at the up most importance and fun is second. In all the years I've been doing this. I have never witnessed anybody coming close to hurting them themselves.

"If you are interested in shooting and coming out to do this you can give me a call down at the Firing Line or you can call Rob Kuetz who is the President of the Guam Shooting Sports Federation. All new shooters young and old are welcomed to come out. "
