Guam - Earlier this week two elementary schools were placed on lockdown following a frantic call from a woman who claimed that she and her children were in danger, and now the woman who made the call to police earlier this week is behind bars, accused of making up the threat. 37-year-old Melanie Wenceslao allegedly contacted police on Wednesday, reporting that a man she knows had threatened to kill her and her children.

It was that phone call that led to police notifying the Department of Education and officials making the decision to put two elementary schools on temporary lockdown status.

But apparently there was never any real threat as Wenceslao recanted her statements to police saying no one ever threatened to kill her and instead that she had only thought it in her head.

The Chalan Pago woman was arrested for making a false report and false alarm. She also admitted to police that she was using crystal methamphetamine but claimed she hasn't smoked the drug in several months.

Wenceslao remains behind bars awaiting a magistrate's hearing. She is confined at the Women's Facility at the Mangilao compound.
